KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has issued a total of 1,149 notices for various trade offences under Ops Catut 2023 conducted since Jan 1 this year until last June 30.

Its deputy director-general of enforcement (Operations) Shamsul Nizam Khalil said the notices were issued under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 to obtain information on the price and cost of certain goods.

He said that out of the total number of notices issued, two were for failing to comply with the direction of the assistant controller to provide the information requested.

“The notices were issued to various levels of business including manufacturers, importers, suppliers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers,” he said in an interview with Bernama TV recently.

Apart from Ops Catut, he said, the ministry also conducted Ops Sinar, involving inspections by enforcement personnel in plainclothes at business premises to ensure higher compliance by traders.

He called for cooperation from traders to continue to comply with all laws and regulations, especially involving profiteering, to avoid strict action.
