ASAJAYA: After performing a number of demanding workouts in the forest, one is required to take on the task of walking 10 kilometres through the forest at two in the morning.
Not only that, every member of the Asajaya Civil Defence Force (APM) was also tested for mental and physical endurance with various activities during the Asajaya APM Outdoor Training held in the Kampung Sampun forest here.
The second training programme held by APM Asajaya since 2015 was participated by 50 members over three days from July 22.
Asajaya District Civil Defence Officer, LT (PA) Hafizul Samah said the training was aimed at equipping participants with disaster rescue skills, in addition to improving their stamina and discipline.
“In this training, we emphasise discipline, self-reliance, fitness and physical fitness of the members to prepare them to serve the community.
“Among the activities held during these three days and two nights was a 10km walk starting at 2am and ending at 10am,” he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating at the closing ceremony of APM Asajaya’s Outdoor Training at Kampung Sampun forest here, yesterday (July 24).
Hafizul added that members also needed to spend the night in the forest area, set their own tents and find food in the forest for survival.
“This outdoor training is to test the fitness and physical fitness of the members while the monthly training is to teach them about APM knowledge and skills,” he said.
Meanwhile, he encouraged the public especially those around Asajaya, Sadong Jaya and Simunjan to join APM Asajaya.
