SIBU: More than 1,000 people turned up at the SIBUfm 2017 Gawai stage show at Julau Bazaar on Friday night which was officiated at by Member of Parliament for Julau, Datuk Joseph Salang.
Salang in his speech said RTM remains relevant and has captured the hearts of the people, particularly people in the rural areas, although it is already 71 years old.
“The RTM’s effort to hold event on location has given big impact in disseminating accurate information to the people. This is more meaningful, because it would strengthen relations between RTM and the people,” he said.
Salang also hoped that the event could be held every year as it can strengthen unity among all races.
The hosting of the SIBUfm Gawai stage show in Julau has indirectly helped to introduce Julau to the visitors.
Besides, performances by popular singers such as Ricky El, Florence Lo and Johhny Aman, comedians Bunyau and Mujab were also present to entertain the big crowd.
‘Ngetas Ranyai’ activity and lucky draws were also held.
