MUKAH: Over 10,000 visitors attended the ‘Konsert Ambang Merdeka Peringkat Sarawak’ at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja here on yesterday evening.

The opening performance of the concert was a dance by the group Sri Ritma Borneo, which started at 8.50 pm.

Visitors were treated to performances by local artists such as Bob Yusof, Ricky Andrewson, Rozie Mila, Eddie Kuwing, Raymond Enyau, Raquel Then, A’llan Ezra Maradona, and the P. Ramlee Sarawak Fan Club.

The performance of the night was also accompanied by the Sarawak State Orchestra Symphony.

At the same time, the ‘Ratu Kebangsaan 2023’ competition was held, featuring 15 finalists showcasing traditional costumes of their respective ethnic groups.

The crowds at the concert

The winner of the competition was Nursyafiqah Abdullah, who took home a cash prize of RM2,000.

For the runner-up, Nur Zureyha Zurhaidi emerged victorious, winning a cash prize of RM1,500, while third place was secured by Erra Chan Pay Yin, receiving a cash prize of RM1,000.

All three winners also received crowns, sashes, and bouquets presented by the Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

After the prize presentation, the crowd had the opportunity to enjoy a fireworks display.

Also in attendance were the Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Mukah Resident Kueh Lei Poh, and other distinguished guests.
