It is scheduled for July 31 until August 5 and will open its doors to the public from 10am to 10pm.
Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the celebration also promises a variety of activities which will bring together museums from all over the country to hold exhibitions at the BCM grounds.
In addition to this, he said there will be numerous complementary events, including sape workshops, curatorial short courses, museum seminars on sustainability and well-being, sports programmes, Sarawak heritage kitchen, musical theatre performances, cultural showcases, and more.
“Sarawak was previously chosen as the host for the celebration in Malaysia, with successful events held in 2003 and 2013. This year, Sarawak gladly embraced the opportunity to host the celebration once more.”
He said this at the pre-launch of the event at the Plaza Merdeka shopping centre on today (July 12).
“I am confident that all museum communities, as experts in the production of exhibitions, will use all their experience and capabilities to prepare interesting exhibitions and promise a valuable experience for every visitor.
“Thus, we in Sarawak, both at the ministry and department level, see it as a positive thing in this year’s tourism calendar, and will work hard to ensure its celebration is lively and has a positive impact,” he said.
