SIBU: The Sibu Jaya public library was closed immediately today following the detection of a staff member who tested positive for Covid-19.

Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said he had received information that one of his staff at the Sibu Jaya library had tested positive for Covid-19 due to close contact with Covid-19 patients.

“SRDC will close the public library in Sibu Jaya temporarily from today until further notice.

“Therefore, all SRDC staff members who have contact with the staff concerned must undergo the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test today,” he stressed.

In the meantime, he said the public, especially those who carry out any business related to the SRDC are required to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures.

“We greatly appreciate the cooperation of all communities, especially our customers for the safety and wellbeing of the general public and the council. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said Sempurai.
