KUALA LUMPUR: More than 600 private clinics have registered under the MADANI medical scheme as of Aug 1, according to ProtectHealth Corporation in a statement yesterday.

It said since the scheme was introduced, engagement sessions have been held with the relevant state representatives, government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), associations and community leaders nationwide.

“The aim of the engagement session is to raise awareness about the benefits of this scheme and the government’s efforts to increase the low-income group’s access to acute primary care services in the private sector.

“To date, over  28,000 B40 households have sought treatment under the MADANI Medical Scheme,” said the company which is implementing the scheme.

This scheme offers free outpatient treatment for acute cases to Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) recipients where they can seek treatment at private medical clinics (GPs) registered under the scheme.

According to the statement, as of July 2023, ProtectHealth has held briefings at 70 health clinics and 186 private (GP) clinics in 10 districts.
