In this discourse, we delve into the potential advantages and drawbacks of extending the railway to Kalimantan, along with the varied hopes and anticipations associated with such a significant expansion.

“I strongly agree because it can boost our country’s economy. Additionally, Kalimantan will become the capital of Indonesia. This will accelerate development, social progress, education, and, especially, enhance two-way relations between Malaysia, Sarawak, and Indonesia. The hope is that it will assist in driving economic development, social progress, education, transportation and communication networks, and bring the people of Sarawak and Indonesia closer together culturally. Furthermore, it will help both of these countries increase job opportunities for Sarawak and Indonesia.”

“Looking at the plans and proposals from the government, I think the Trans Borneo Railway to Kalimantan can be considered a profitable and beneficial plan. Road access connecting Sarawak-Kalimantan already exists, and with the Trans Borneo Railway, many other facilities can be realised and improved, such as road infrastructure, rest areas, and more. The construction of the Trans Borneo Railway will also develop the areas involved with various facilities and developments, as well as connect rural areas to urban centres. I agree. This construction will make traveling to Indonesia, Brunei, and Malaysia much easier. The tourism industry and various attractions will be more accessible. The construction of the railway is cost-effective, safe, and user-friendly. I envision the availability of stop facilities, including immigration checkpoints for each country.

My hope is that with the construction of the Trans Borneo Railway, it will boost the tourism industry, attract strategic partners such as the education sector on the Borneo Island. Moreover, it will help maintain and strengthen the close relationship between Sarawak, Kalimantan, and Brunei.”
