Parents suspected of kid’s murder remanded

BAU: The husband and wife arrested in connection with the death of their six-year-old daughter were remanded for seven days by the Bau Magistrates’ Couparentsrt.

The male suspect was arrested on January 4 at an auto parts store in Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, Kuching around 3pm.

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said in a statement that the remand started on Thursday (Jan 5) and will go on until Jan 11.

He added that both the suspects were positive for methamphetamine abuse.

Poge revealed that the 35-year-old male suspect admitted to have beaten the six year-old daughter to death and disposed of her body in a bush at Kampung Kranji, in Bau.

According to Poge, the six-year-old daughter’s body was identified by her 34-year-old mother based on the clothing and a doll that remained grasped in her hands.

Police have also arrested the mother after further investigations were done.

“It is believed that the murder took place on Dec 17.

“The case unfolded after a police report was received on Dec 21 from a man, who claimed that the mother and her eldest daughter had refused to come home,” he explained according to the statement.

Based on further investigations, it is believed that the murder took place on Dec 17.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
