KUCHING: The passing of former Sibuti MP Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang is a big loss to Sarawak, said Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“He was a very good MP, not
controversial and very hardworking when he was the MP,” he told reporters after the handing over ceremony of the Sarawak Museum Complex here yesterday.

He added that Ahmad’s
passing is also a big loss to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

“I’m very close to him … And was shocked to know about the news,” he said.

Karim then expressed his condolences to the family and hoped that they would continue to stay strong.

“The last time I met him was when he was in Miri this year, and that was during Chinese New Year,” he said.

Ahmad Lai, 69, passed away yesterday morning at 5.32 at the National Heart Institute, in Kuala Lumpur.
