Patrol more at crime infested areas

KUCHING: SUPP Youth has called on the Mobile Patrol Vehicles (MPV) Unit to patrol more at crime infested areas such as Tanah Puteh and City Square Business centre in Pending.

Secretary General of SUPP Youth, Milton Foo Tiang Wee revealed that the dialogue session between Kuching Police MPV Unit and SUPP Youth Central was to provide better understanding of the two as well as to inform the unit of the crime infested areas as requested by members of the public.

During the dialogue session, Senior Assistant Inspector of the police patrol fleet, Sergeant Lim explained that the main tasks of the unit includes prevention of crime, carry out patrols and as front-line support.

He also expressed his gratitude to SUPP for organising the session that would enable members of the public to understand on how the police department works.

Lim added that should there be any report received, police patrol cars must arrive at the scene within 15 minutes and members of the public may make their report by calling these numbers, 082-244444 or 248311.

Milton reasoned that the purpose of this dialogue session was to enhance the knowledge and understanding of youth members on the daily patrol operation by the police as well as to facilitate the direct involvement of the public in crime prevention.

SUPP Youth plans to organise similar dialogues or forums to raise public awareness on crime precautions and at the same time, establish a channel for the police to reach the grass-root level in terms of solving security issues in residential areas.
