SIBU: Property owners within the jurisdiction of the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) are reminded to settle their assessments for July to December 2023 by October 31.
The council warned that a late payment fee or surcharge of one per cent per month will be imposed without exception should payments not be received by the due date.
“This ruling is in accordance with Part VII of Section 74(1) of the Local Authorities Ordinance, 1996,” the statement read.
For the convenience of ratepayers, payments can be made at the council’s counters. Duplicate copies of assessment bills are available at the council payment counters should the original be lost or misplaced.
“The council will not entertain claims suggesting that the bill never existed,” the statement continued.
Ratepayers can make their payments from Monday to Friday (8 am to 7 pm) and on Saturday and Sunday (8 am to 5 pm) at the following locations: UTC Sibu, Kaunter Agensi Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak UTC1, Sibu Central Market Multi-Storey Car Park, No.2, Jalan Bengkel, Sibu.
