KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not rule out the possibility of working with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to form the federal government after the 15th General Election (GE15).

Anwar said discussions to collaborate will take place after GE15.

“Come this November 19, we do not want to be seen as trying to marginalise any meaningful participation from Sabah and Sarawak.

“Our principle in PH is to work closely with any state government so will we close the possibility of having a discussion with GPS? I never denied that.

“Right now, we just want to work hard to ensure our victory, whether it be for the candidates of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), AMANAH or Democratic Action Party (DAP) because that remains our main focus and utmost importance to us at the moment,” Anwar told reporters at a press conference here today (Nov 12).

Anwar added that the federal government that he is planning to form will try their best to establish close relationships with the state governments, including Sarawak.

“All of us throughout Malaysia, whether it be West Malaysia, Sarawak or Sabah, have to work together as a unit and a strong team to form better Malaysia.

“We want to have representative democracy that represents the views of the people.

“It is pointless to have a strong state government representation but cannot cooperate with the federal government because commitments will not be fulfilled if they do not share the same common goal,” Anwar noted.
