SIBU: The ‘Mysterious Heart of Sarawak’ exhibition, organised by the Sibu Photographer Association (SPA) has amazed Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

In a statement issued yesterday (Nov 16), the association said that Snowdan visited the exhibition on Nov 11.

“The exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts of Sarawak, held its opening ceremony at 3 pm on November 11. Snowdan was invited to officiate at the ceremony but was unable to attend due to certain reasons. Consequently, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek officiated at the event.

However, Snowdan arrived at the Kingwood Hotel later that afternoon and visited the exhibition, accompanied by association president Edwin Ong Wee Kee,” the statement read.

The photography exhibition, running from Nov 11 to Nov 17, showcases captivating photos of the Kajang tribe sub-groups captured in Belaga by SPA last September.

The Kajang tribe is divided into various sub-groups, including the Sekapan, Lahanan, Punan, Tanjung, Kanowit, and Kejaman.

“During this shooting trip, the association was only able to find the Sekapan, Lahanan, and Punan tribes. Therefore, this exhibition will feature photos taken by our group members of these three tribes,” the statement added.
