SELANGAU: The drivers of two pick-up trucks, which were involved in a collision along Jalan Selangau-Mukah, died from severe injuries today.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the accident involving a single cab pickup truck and a double cab pickup truck, happened around 11.10 am.
Firemen from Selangau and Mukah stations were promptly despatched to the scene to commence extrication works after two men were reportedly trapped in their seats.
Upon arrival, they quickly used special tools to extricate the victims who both were trapped in the driver seats of both vehicles.
Once extricated, paramedics confirmed that both of them had died at the scene and their bodies were handed over to police for transportation to the hospital.
It was also reported that three passengers of the double cab pickup truck, had been rescued out of the vehicle by passers-by before they were taken to Selangau Health Clinic for further treatment.
The victims’ identities and extent of injuries were not made known by authorities.
The team helped to carry out flushing works at the scene to ensure that the road was safe for other road users before heading back to their stations at 12.40 pm.
