KUCHING: A pillion rider died after the motorcycle he was on went out of control and hit the road divider at Jalan Semariang/DBKU roundabout yesterday.

The accident occurred when the deceased, Abdul Kadir bin Bujang aged 57, was pillion riding to work in a car wash in Jalan Astana at about 8.55 am.

The motorcycle reportedly spinned out of control and ended on the grass verge at the other side of the road, thereby throwing him some metres away whereas the rider handling the motorbike escaped unhurt. It was not confirmed at press time whether the rider was a member of his family or not.

Abdul Kadir was bleeding from injuries on his head and was confirmed dead by medics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) who arrived soon after receiving an emergency call.

His remains were brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.
