KUCHING: Former head of state Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is confirmed to be receiving treatment at his private residence in Demak Jaya here.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata told this to reporters after the launch of the Chinese New Year ‘Ops Selamat’ at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters today.

“Yes, Tun is at his private residence in Kuching.

“We cannot provide further details as the case is still under investigation. Everything that has happened is still under investigation process,” he said.

Mancha also disclosed that eight police reports have been filed against Taib’s wife, Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib for allegedly taking him from a private hospital here against medical advice at 11.56 pm last Saturday.

Previously, a police report went viral on social media regarding Taib being checked out from a private hospital by Ragad while he was undergoing treatment.

On Monday (Feb 5), Ragad refuted the claims via her Instagram account, denying that she had removed Taib from the hospital against doctors’ advice.
