Police seek witnesses in robbery investigation

KUCHING: City police are seeking the public’s assistance in investigations related to a robbery that occurred yesterday (Sept 2).

The incident is believed to have happened around 12.30am along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune, confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

“We are investigating it under Section 394 of the Penal Code.

“The estimated losses was about RM3,000 worth of personal belongings.

“We urge any witnesses to come forward and assist us in the investigation at any of our police stations,” he said briefly.

Section 394 of the Penal Code deals with voluntarily causing harm while committing robbery and carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment, along with the possibility of whipping, upon conviction.

Further details regarding the victim and the suspect involved in the incident have not been disclosed, pending the ongoing investigation.

However, according to sources, the victim is reported to be a woman who was robbed of her belongings after a night out at a bar.
