Police to conduct snap checks on hotspots

MIRI: The police will conduct snap checks around the city during the Gawai Dayak celebration using mobile patrol vehicles.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol said several hotspots have been identified where the snap checks would be conducted.

He revealed that such checks, dubbed Ops Gawai had started on Saturday (May 29) from 9 am until 3 am the following day.

Apart from checking road users, police will also enhance compliance surveillance and patrol crowd-prone areas to ensure that the public follow the movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures.

Among the areas that have been identified for the snap checks are residential areas in Taman Tunku, Taman Jelita, Kampung Lusut, Senadin, Quadruplex residential area and Lutong.
