Political leaders stand with families of air crash victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Ministers, deputy ministers and menteris besar expressed their condolences to the families of the victims of the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) plane crash on the Guthrie Highway near Bandar Elmina in Shah Alam, Selangor, yesterday afternoon.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri were among those whose prayers went out to the bereaved families to persevere with their tragic loss.

Also praying for the resilience of the victims’ families were Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Wan Rosdy described the demise of Pahang  Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun, 53, who is also Pelangai state assemblyman as a great loss to the state and the people of Pahang.

Johari was among the 10 victims who died in the plane crash in Bandar Elmina.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who described the late Johari as a dear friend, said he was deeply saddened by the news and prayed that Allah SWT shower all the deceased with HIs forgiveness and mercy.

Earlier, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that a VIP was among 10 people killed in an aircraft crash.

Eight of the victims were six passengers and two crew aboard the light aircraft, while the other two were a motorcyclist and a car driver who happened to be passing by the crash site.

The ill-fated plane was on its way from Langkawi to Subang and had been cleared to land at 2.50 pm. – BERNAMA
