SIMUNJAN: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has called on Simunjan electorates to give their fullest support to Rodiyah Sapiee who will be contesting for the Batang Sadong parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate’s victory in GE15 will aid in the state government’s effort to develop Simunjan and other areas in the parliamentary constituency.

“This is the first time GPS nominated a woman candidate with a background of engineering. The people here will be so lucky if she wins and be your representative in the parliament.

“Because, with her background, Rodiyah Sapiee can help the assemblymen here to develop all of the infrastructure development needed by the people,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the leader-with-the-people programme at Kampung Tanjung Pisang here today (Nov 7).

As such, the GPS chairman said the voters must ensure a landslide victory for Rodiyah.

“Not only for development, we also can be the determinant for the next prime minister if GPS wins big.

“What’s important is we must be together. If we are together, we will have bigger voices in Parliament,” he stressed.

He said GPS is not shy of fielding women candidates as the party believes that women candidates are capable of fighting alongside men to achieve victory.

“We want leaders that are not only young, but also include women and experienced leaders,” he said.

During the event, Abang Johari also officiated the Darul Amillin Mosque in Kampung Tanjung Pisang.

Also present were Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
