KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received two courtesy visits at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

The first visit was from the Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM) to discuss the direction and new steps for the organisation to implement projects in the future.

According to AZAM chairman, Datuk William Patrick Nyigor, the organisation welcomed the suggestions presented by the Premier, especially regarding the development of future projects.

“We met with the Premier two years ago, and this visit is also to provide updates on the activities that have been implemented.

“He also provided some insightful suggestions for us to change direction and steps for projects to be implemented in the future,” he said.

Later, Abang Johari received a courtesy visit from the Sarawak Umrah & Hajj Agencies Association (SUHA) led by its chairman, Ruzaiman Ghazalee.

When met after the visit, Ruzaiman said they discussed current issues related to Umrah and Hajj in Sarawak.

He said, with Sarawak’s plan to develop the aviation industry, flights from Kuching directly to Jeddah, Mecca, could be provided.

“It is indeed the aspiration of SUHA and potential pilgrims from Sarawak to obtain direct flights from Kuching to Jeddah, and this matter is still being pursued.

“We hope that one day this can be realised to benefit pilgrims in this state,” he said.
