Premier presents donations to 100 school children

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg handed over donations to 100 primary and secondary school students from the Petra Jaya constituency at the State Legislative Assembly Building on Friday (Mar 15).

The donations were from the Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) as part of the MAKSAK Cares Donation Programme for Ramadan this year.

This initiative was held alongside the Breaking Fast Ceremony with the Premier and Sarawak Civil Servants.

Each student received a cash aid of RM100 and a bath towel from the MAKSAK Cares fund, along with dates package and a sarong from the Sarawak Premier’s office, courtesy of the MAKSAK Women’s Exco.

Abang Johari and the civil servants observed the Isyak and Tarawih prayers after the donation handover. Earlier, they broke fast together before performing the Maghrib prayer, followed by a dinner reception.

Also present at the event were Premier’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar and Deputy Speaker Datuk Idris Buang, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan, Deputy State Secretary (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik, and Deputy State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee.
