KUCHING: Promoting harmony among races during this festive season is important to avoid any conflict that may divide the multi-racial society.

“It is good that the private sector is playing their part in festive events and encouraging more awareness with these activities,” Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Chong Chieng Jen said during a distribution of “bubur lambuk” programme at AEON Mall, today.

A total of 800 packets of “bubur lambuk” were distributed.

He added that Sarawakians are coming together to celebrate both Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya and to mingle around with each other.

“Apart from celebrating, they are also promoting better understanding and harmony between all races as during this time, there are several heated issues that are occupying people’s mind and it is dividing people.
