BINTULU: Programmes and activities organised by sports clubs, associations, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will continue to be supported, especially for the benefit of the youth.

Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming said that one of the contributions is the provision of funds or grants through the Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocated by the Sarawak government.

“The MRP contribution to these sports clubs is our initiative to encourage them to organise various activities and attract more youth participation, especially in sports events,” he said.

He made these remarks during the fund presentation ceremony to the Top Eight Bintulu Futsal Club and the Hii (Kho) Association in Bintulu, held at the office of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bintulu Branch on Wednesday.

Johnny stated that associations and NGOs are encouraged to recruit more new members and work together to ensure the advancement and betterment of each organisation, thus making Bintulu a better place.

“Some individuals may not be interested in physical sports and prefer playing with mobile phones.

“Therefore, my initiative aims not only to foster interest but also to encourage the younger generation to engage in outdoor activities,” he added.
