KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth Publicity chief Andy Lawrence said an article entitled “Guess who has taken the first crack at GPS” written by a person by the name of Peter Raja was biased, distasteful and inaccurate.
The story was about PRS president and deputy chief minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.
On Jan 25, Peter wrote about Masing’s call to all four component parties of GPS to decide the best person to lead Sarawak. In the article he asked whether Masing would dare PBB to either take him seriously or take action against him.
Peter had sent his views to New Sarawak Tribune and other news providers.
Andy told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday that his words were not an outburst but advice from a senior leader who has seen and experienced a lot, and has been through some political storms and turbulence in Sarawak and Malaysia.
In his opinion, Peter’s article was purely comic and devoid of fact.
“To say that a leader is ill and desperate because he is running out of time is purely speculation. He was trying to make people have bad perceptions of the targeted individual,” he said.
“He is not God and therefore cannot tell that someone is running out of time.”
On Masing’s advice to GPS leaders to rise above race and religion, Andy said it was indeed timely because it is about time for Sarawakians to look beyond race and religion in politics.
“Months before the registration of GPS, its leaders discussed who should lead the coalition. Everyone chose Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said.
