KUCHING: Party Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women’s Wing are delighted that the Party(PRS) has finally made a breakthrough; putting up at least a woman candidate this PRU14, Ms Rita Insol in P214 Selangau.

“There is indeed light at the end of the tunnel and we are so thankful. We hope that this breakthrough will open doors for more women especially Dayak women participation in politics in the near future,” said PRS Women chief, Dato Doris S Brodie yesterday.

“Rita is a woman of calibre. With her legal background and

past experience holding management position in Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd and her involvement with various NGOs, she makes a good candidate.

“We also believed that she will make a good and responsible people’s representative when elected. Besides, it will be history in the making when Rita is elected as member of parliament for being the first dayak woman to be a parliamentarian.

“As Ive said time and again, we are not short of Dayak women who are eligible and capable, it only calls for opportunity to be given and the men-centric mindset in the party to be changed.

“This is a good beginning. However and in order for PRS to be progressive and dynamic, we need to work in partnership and in good blood.

“Now that the candidates list have been announced, let’s pull rank and work together to deliver all the seats to BN.

“As for the PRS Women’s Wing, we will be all out alongside our PRS and BN comrades to battle it out there especially in the 6 PRS Parliamentary Seats of Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Julau, Kanowit, Hulu Rejang and Selangau.

“We wouldn’t rest on our laurels and would not take our opponents for granted until the ‘war’ is won. We know we have the numbers (women voters) hence we want to make sure that these numbers will wholesomely make a difference towards BN’s victory this 14th General Election,” she said.

Doris noted that this is the chief minister’s first general election since taking over the helm. Hence it is important to ensure BN in Sarawak win big not just in terms of majority in votes delivery but also number of seats won.

“We want him to feel good and proud knowing that the masses of Sarawakians are rallying their support behind him because we share his aspirations towards a united, modern and developed Sarawak,” she added.
