KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has urged the public to take care of their health during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

As the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman, Uggah highlighted the recent reports from the Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) and the Meteorological Department, which indicate an increase in hot and dry weather in Sarawak.

He advised everyone to take precautions to ensure that their health is not affected.

“Recently, the Air Pollution Index (API) recorded air quality exceeding 50, meaning unhealthy air. Therefore, I hope that we all follow the doctor’s advice and take precautions to ensure that our health is not affected,” Uggah said.

He also urged the public to avoid open burning and report any incidents to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the police or the Department of Environment so that immediate action can be taken to extinguish the fire.
