KUCHING: Forty-five felinophiles from across the country are looking for a purr-fect weekend at the Kuching North City Hall-Cat Fanciers’ Association (DBKU-CFA) International Cat Show.

They have signed up around 81 pussycats for the Sept 2-3 event launched by DBKU Mayor Hilmy Othman at Arcum Tent, Majma Mall here.

The cats will strut their stuff in various categories such as the Best Championship Class; Best Premiership Class; Best Kitten Class; Best Household Pet Class; and DBKU Best Choice In Show.

Aside from that, there will also be a Kitten Pedigree Winner (Household Pet Class); Kitten Shorthair Winner (Household Pet Class); Kitten Longhair Winner (Household Pet Class); Kitten Sarawak Local Cat Winner (Household Pet Class); Adult Pedigree Winner (Household Pet Class); Adult Shorthair Winner (Household Pet Class); Adult Longhair Winner (Household Pet Class); and Adult Sarawak Local Cat Winner (Household Pet Class) categories where winners will each bring home a hamper and a trophy.

Meanwhile, for the first to fifth place winners of the Cat Cage Decoration Competition; Cat Fancy Dress Competition; Cat Weight Guessing Competition; and Cat Drawing Competition, they will each bring home a trophy, plaque and a hamper.

“All contested categories will be judged by judges from abroad such as the United States, Germany, Spain, Ukraine and Singapore.

“These judges have extensive experience at the international level,” Hilmy said, adding that the final result will be announced on Sunday (Sept 3).
