MIRI: It was a Merdeka Day surprise which a houseowner didn’t expect.

The local man was tidying up his storage racks outside his house when he came across a reticulated python early this morning.

Shocked by the finding, the 28-year-old promptly contacted the Civil Defence Force (APM) to tackle the unexpected guest.

A four-member team was deployed to the scene. The APM personnel spotted the two-feet-long python coiled up on a storage rack.

The team managed to capture the reptile, about the size of a broomstick.

The slithery creature was subsequently released back into its natural habitat far from the residential area.
