SAMARAHAN: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Flag Rally convoy which ended yesterday was not the end yet, but a beginning of the coalition’s struggle to fight for Sarawak’s rights.

Yesterday was the last day of the eight-day flag rally. It started on Jan 11 and was headed by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Chief Gerald Rentap Jabu.

” Sarawak’s rights are like our endangered hornbill which must be protected only by Sarawakians. “

The 60 GPS members of the youth and women wings have made a total of 21 stops starting from north to south of Borneo, and the last stop was at the Kota Samarahan Civic Centre yesterday (Jan 17).

Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang in her speech said the high spirit from the troops in going down on the ground to meet the people showed Sarawak’s spirit to not only promote GPS, but to inform the people on its main mission.

“This is a new start for all of us, and it is hoped that GPS will continue to inform members of the public about GPS, especially the rural areas,” she said.

She also called upon the Samarahan community to given their fullest support to GPS, as only GPS knows the wants and needs of its people.

“We must also support our ‘apai’ (father) Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in his new ship so that Sarawak’s rights can be fully taken back and safeguarded.

“Sarawak’s rights are like our endangered hornbill which must be protected only by Sarawakians.”

Also present were political analyst Datuk Peter Minos and Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang.

Today (Jan 19) will see the official launching of GPS which will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, with an estimation of more than 8,000 members and supporters expected to attend at Stadium Perpaduan.
