JEDDAH: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah arrived in Jeddah today from Madinah to perform umrah (minor haj) in Makkah.

On arrival at the Royal Terminal of the King Abdulaziz International Airport here at 11.30 am local time, His Majesty was given a red-carpet welcome by the Governor of Jeddah Prince Mishaal Majed Abdulaziz.

His Majesty then inspected the royal guard of honour mounted by 28 personnel before proceeding with a private meeting with Prince Mishaal.

Accompanying His Majesty in the aircraft were Prince Tengku Amir Nasser Ibni Sultan Abdullah and Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

Sultan Abdullah and his entourage have been scheduled to travel to Makkah by car, with the journey taking about an hour, before returning to Jeddah after completing the umrah.
