MIRI: Programmes relating to Go-Kart competitions might revive interest in the sport, and thereby further encouraging healthy living practices among the community.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the Miri area in particular that has a Go-Kart circuit can be used to promote the sport to the youth in the state.

“Miri is the only location that has a Go-Kart circuit in the whole of Sarawak. Therefore, it should be utilised as best as possible.

“This kind of motoring event should also be expanded to all parts of Sarawak in addition to being held on a larger scale to attract enthusiasts from both inside and outside countries such as Kalimantan and Singapore,” he was quoted as saying by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).

He said this when completing the opening ceremony of the Sarawak Auto Carnival 2023 organised by Permyjaya Motorsports Club Miri at the Permyjaya Miri Go-Kart Circuit on Saturday (Feb 25).
