KUCHING: The Social Welfare Council Sarawak’s (SWCS) role should remain relevant to today’s development.

This was said by Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, saying that through SWCS’ new exco members, it would make a good impression on the public.

“They are clear of their roles and what programmes to organise to help NGOs under their umbrella body while staying true to their objectives formed 70 years ago.

“As such, they should move to help NGOs be more effective and sustainable,” said Fatimah during a press conference after receiving a courtesy call from SWCS’s new exco members led by its president Major Francis Ng yesterday.

She also noted that with the cooperation forged between the government and NGOs as strategic partners, it can contribute to the wellness of the community.

SWCS will also be celebrating their 70th anniversary this September.
