KUCHING: The remains of a policeman, suspected to have been beaten to death at an apartment in Taman Impian Indah, Kajang, Selangor arrived safely at Kuching International Airport yesterday (Mar 24).

The body of Corporal Sathyaraj Jeevan, 34, arrived at 9.30 am, greeted with a salute and a brief ceremony by senior officers and members of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) to pay final respects for his years of service in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Also present were the deceased’s family members and 50 police officers from Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD), Padawan IPD and Sarawak IPK led by Supt Sudirman Kram.

Following the ceremony, Sathyaraj’s remains were transported via a PDRM van to his wife’s residence in Kampung Sikog, Padawan. His final resting place will be at the Kampung Sikog Christian cemetery on Tuesday (Mar 26).

Sathyaraj, who served with Kuala Lumpur IPK, was found dead at around 3 am on Saturday, believed to be the result of beating by a group of men in Taman Impian Indah.

The remains of Sathyaraj is placed at his wife’s residence in Kampung Sikog, Padawan.

The deceased is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested five men and identified several other suspects involved in fatal beating.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, were arrested on Saturday and efforts are ongoing to locate several more individuals.

“Autopsy results, which were completed on Saturday afternoon, determined the cause of death to be severe head injuries due to impact.

“Further investigations are underway under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.
