SARATOK: Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as individuals are called to jointly share sustenance with communities in need, especially during the festive seasons.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said that Sarawak had a unique culture with its people often extending help regardless of race and religion during the festive seasons.

He said this tradition should be nurtured so that those in need could celebrate festivals more cheerfully like the other people.

“For example, during the Christmas celebration, we witnessed Ji Yuan Shan She Saratok Charitable and Moral Education Association organise a food basket giving programme.

“This also happens during other festivals, regardless of race and religion.

“For me, this kind of effort should be welcomed and it would be even better if more NGOs come forward, including individuals, so that more people can be helped.

“I sincerely hope that this tradition of sharing sustenance will maintained among the multi-ethnic and religious community in Saratok,” he said.
