Rendering full support to medical frontliners

Tzu Chi volunteers hand over eight sets of 6-in-1 fluid management system and five sets of bedside monitoring system to SGH on 30 August.

KUCHING: Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia donated medical equipment to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) to render full support to medical frontliners.

The said donation given included ten units of high flow nasal cannula donated on June 29; five units of intensive care unit (ICU) beds (July 8); six sets of 6-in-1 fluid management system and 20 units of individual syringe pump (July 21); another eight sets of 6-in-1 fluid management system and five sets of bedside monitoring system (Aug 30).

The foundation further noted that it has been working with many public hospitals and government clinics in Malaysia since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, supplying acute lifesaving equipment and other medical aid.

“With this, we would like to express our gratitude to all members of the public for the support and assistance in the fundraising drive which started on June 10.

“We will continue to support local healthcare system and care for needy families impacted by the pandemic.

“Thus, members may donate to Tzu Chi’s Charity Fund (tax deductible) to support these ongoing efforts,” it said.

On another note, it stated that as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise, it encouraged the public to adopt a plant-based diet for better health and to protect lives.

“Healthy diets are important for supporting immune systems. Studies show that the adoption of a plant-based diet may lower the severity of Covid-19 infection by 73 percent.

“Let us work together to combat the pandemic hand in hand,” it said.
