BINTULU: Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming will discuss with SMK Bandar Bintulu and the Bintulu Road Transport Department (JPJ) to find a solution to the problem of traffic congestion in the school area.

Pang said, action needs to be taken to ensure that the problem of congestion in the school area involved can be resolved.

“We will discuss with the school and JPJ to find a solution to ensure the smooth flow of traffic is not disrupted, he said when he was carrying out a surprise monitoring of the construction of the covered pedestrian bridge connecting the bridge to SMK Bandar Bintulu, yesterday morning.

This construction project is one of the Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) under N68 Tanjong Batu assemblyman for the convenience of road users, especially SMK Bandar Bintulu students and is expected to be fully completed next May.

Pang went to the field to monitor the construction of a covered pedestrian walkway connecting the footbridge to SMK Bandar Bintulu.

“There are a few students who continue to skip the road divider to cross the road without using the overpass; this action is very dangerous not only for the perpetrators but also for road users who commute using Jalan Tun Hussein Onn,” he pointed out.

At the same time, he said, he had also discussed with the Public Works Department (JKR) to increase the height of the road divider fence in the area near the school involved, thus advising SMK Bandar Bintulu residents to take advantage of the overpass facilities provided for their own safety and that of other public members.
