KUCHING: Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada has commended the Bidayuh community for their profound display of cultural identity through the revival of traditional dress and costumes during Gawai and various other Bidayuh festivals.

In highlighting the significance of the Bidayuh people adorning themselves in traditional attire during festive occasions, he regarded this practise as a true manifestation of their pride and an earnest effort to convey to others that they are Bidayuh.

“The fact that they adorn and wear our traditional dress and costumes during Gawai and any Bidayuh festivals are positive and real manifestations of the pride among us that we want to tell others that we are Bidayuh,” he told the New Sarawak Tribune.

The Bidayuh leader was commenting on the article “Revival of Bidayuh Cultural Pride,” published in the News Sarawak Tribune, saying that the topic covers all angles.

Towards this end, he expressed his deep satisfaction with the endeavours of Bidayuh leaders in preserving and promoting their customs and traditions.
