BAU: A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a rice cooker from a school pantry in Bau recently.

Its district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 25-year-old suspect who is unemployed from Kampung Melayu, Bau was arrested acting on a report received on April 29.

“On April 29, the complainant received a phone call by the school guard that the pantry was entered by an unknown person and that a gas cylinder and rice cooker were stolen with estimated losses worth RM400,” he said when contacted today.

He added the suspect has had no prior criminal record and police have requested for a remand order today for the suspect to facilitate police investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment of five years and a fine.
