BINTULU: A 38-year-old man can thank his lucky stars after his motorcycle skidded and fell into a storm drain near the Kemunting traffic light junction yesterday (July 22).

The extent of his injuries is not known, and he is currently being treated at Bintulu Hospital.

A spokesman for the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call around 5.20pm and despatched firemen from Bintulu station to the scene.

On arrival, they confirmed that the victim’s motorcycle had fallen into a four-foot-deep drain off the side of an eight-foot-steep cliff.

The team promptly went down the drain and brought the injured victim out using a stretcher.

He was then handed over to the paramedics to be taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded their operation.
