KUCHING: Voters in Sarawak must be wise and choose Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 15th general election (GE15).

GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this is for political and social stability, progress and development as well as economic prosperity in Sarawak.

As a coalition of credible political parties, he said the GPS is committed to fighting for and restoring the rights and privileges of Sarawak in line with the aspirations of the founding fathers of Malaysia.

“As equal partners in the federation of Malaysia, the people of Sarawak must ensure a landslide victory for GPS.

“The GE15 will determine the direction and future of the people of Sarawak and Malaysia,” he said in his message for the GPS election manifesto.

Abang Johari, who is Premier, stressed that the full mandate of Sarawak voters would enable the GPS to have a strong voice in parliament.

“With more representatives from Sarawak, we will have a bigger voice to enable us to formulate laws that benefit Sarawak.

“The interests of Sarawak will also be prioritised by the federal government when formulating its policies, initiatives and allocation of development funds,” he said.

Highlighting the period when Pakatan Harapan (PH) was in charge of the federal government, Abang Johari said the rights, interests and welfare of the people of Sarawak were disregarded.

Various promises were made to the people of Sarawak, but they were not fulfilled as many development projects were cancelled without any second thoughts about the fate of the people.

“This must be taken as a lesson, so that history does not repeat itself,” he said.

Abang Johari said an unstable political situation in Malaysia needs to be avoided especially when the country faces global economic uncertainties.

In view of that, he said strong support for GPS is crucial for a brighter and more secure future for Sarawak and Malaysia.

“I appeal to the people of Sarawak to give their solid support and vote for GPS to make Sarawak a developed and high-income region by 2030,” he said.
