SARIKEI: Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has secured an allocation of RM1.2mil from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) for the upgrading of three roads in Meradong.
The money will be utilised for the enhancement of the cement roads in Tong Ah village (750m), Ulu Sg Kijang village road (700m), and the road leading to the jetty at Rumah Sap village (350m).
“I am thankful to the government and KKDW for allocating funds to enhance and upgrade rural roads in Meradong,” the federal Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change expressed.
“This will result in improved road conditions, ultimately contributing to a better quality of life for the residents,” Huang stated during the project site handover ceremony recently.
He assured that he will continue to request allocations from the government for roads that have not been fully developed.
He emphasised that priority will be given to roads serving a larger population, as these residents require improved road infrastructure for enhanced comfort and convenience.
Huang also noted that maintenance work for two additional roads in Meradong, with an allocated budget of RM500,000 from KKDW, is currently in the bidding process and is expected to be completed in the near future.
