SEBUYAU: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development has allocated RM10 million for the building of a GiatMARA facility here.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the ministry, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said the construction should start this year.

“To support the local community, especially the youth, we are dedicating RM10 million for the GiatMARA facility. I’m coordinating with the directors of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and GiatMARA to ensure the project’s progress,” said Ahmad Zahid at the Program Santuni Rakyat at SK Haji Bujang, Sebangan here today (Sept 17).

Additionally, regarding dilapidated schools in the area, Zahid is determined to collaborate with the Ministry of Education (MOE) for more funding to upgrade such schools in Sarawak.

He has acknowledged Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi’s concerns about two schools, SK Haji Bujang and SMK Sebuyau, that need attention.

Ahmad Zahid assured that he will discuss this with Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. “God willing, I’ll address the need for new infrastructure for these schools in our Cabinet meeting next Friday,” he said.
