RM11,000 for Bintulu-LSC C’ship

BINTULU: A total of 12 teams will vie for RM11,000 cash prizes and RM3,120 worth of vouchers at the 2019 Bintulu-LSC Football Championship for Datuk Talib Zulpilip Cup.
The tournament will kick off on October 5 and will be officiated by Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip at Bintulu Stadium, here. The closing date for entries is Sept 25 at 5pm.

To-date, 15 teams have indicated their interest in the tournament which is limited to 12 teams. A briefing and draw will be held on Sept 28 at 7.30pm in Bintulu Hall. The teams will be divided into two groups, A and B. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals while the losing finalists will be joint third. The matches will be played at three courts every weekend, namely Kidurong Club Synthetic Field, BDA Synthetic Field and Goodwill Stadium.

The tournament is being organised by the Bintulu Division Football Association (Bifa) in collaboration with Jepak Dun Service Centre, Lea Sports Centre, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), Bintulu Kidurong Club and Sarawak Ministry of Youth and Sports and other agencies.

According to Bifa president Mohd Zaifulfadillah Junaidi, the tournament aims to produce local calibre players who can compete at a higher level.
“It is also a stage to select players to join the Bintulu Division team for the Sarawak Cup or any other top level competitions organised by the Sarawak Football Association (FAS),” he said.
