KAPIT: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg on Wednesday officiated at the earth breaking ceremony of the RM12-million SK Sungai Kapit Bridge, here.

This bridge will link the said primary school to the main road of Jalan Bukit Goram, thereby connecting it to other areas.

The bridge project that was approved in the 11th Malaysian Plan will ease the transportation of the teachers and students to the school and at the same time avoid any traffic congestion leading to the school that is currently connected by a suspension bridge.

It will also provide safe infrastructure and improve the connectivity of the local community while spurring the local development at the surrounding areas. Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing mulled the project during his site visit to the school located along Jalan Bukit Goram on 19 July 2016.

The proposed site for SK Sungai Kapit Bridge is near SK Sungai Kapit connecting Jalan Bukit Goram to the school. This bridge project is a bailey bridge crossing Sungai Kapit.
