KUCHING: About 49 NonGovernment Organisations (NGO) from in and around Pantai Damai constituency received administration funds from the Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, at Dormani Hotel here yesterday.
Junaidi, who is also Pantai Damai State Assemblyman revealed that the fund amounting to RM181,000 was presented to assist and appreciate the NGOs in his constituency.
“It is our responsibility as a people’s representative to disburse the assistance to NGOs and communities in our constituency. “I hope this assistance will enable the NGO comprising associations and clubs to advocate their yearly activities smoothly that can benefit the members,” he said. Junaidi pointed out that aside from the NGOs, school and university students were also given financial assistance.
“The financial assistance is given to those who wish to further their studies as an incentive to students who excel in national examinations (UPSR, PT3, SPM & STPM) and even to university graduates. “It was to encourage them to achieve better result and improve themselves,” he said.
Meanwhile, Junaidi advised the community leaders to inform the relevant authorities should anyone need financial assistance so that everyone would benefit from such initiative in the future.
