SIBU: Yartist Club and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Seduan managed to collect a total of RM2,100 through its charity fundraising event during theStage 3.0.
The money, which came from from the sale of balloon flowers at the event, was donated to Destiny for Children Association (DFC).
Destiny for Children is a place where stateless children receive their education.
theStage 3.0 was jointly organised by Hyper Young and supported by N.51 Bukit Assek Service Centre, the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) as well as the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts Sarawak.
Yartist Club chairman Johnson Ling presented the donation to DFC principal Pauline Roagers in a brief ceremony, witnessed by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek.
Chieng said JCI Seduan together with the Yartist club teamed up during theStage 3.0 to sell the flowers to members of the public.
“They managed to sell 470 balloon flowers and raised RM2,100 over the three-day theStage 3.0. This is the first time that fundraising activity was held during theStage,” he said when met by reporters after witnessing the donation handover today (April 13).
Chieng said it was very encouraging to see the young generation involve themselves in a charity event.
“By engaging with the community, the youth are showing their care and love, especially to DFC which needs support to continue providing education to stateless children who can’t attend government schools,” he said.
On theStage 4.0, Chieng said he would incorporate it with a different programme to attract more participants.
“I would like to change some of the contents so that we can attract more community to participate,” he said.
theStage was a platform for the local youth to show their talent in singing, dancing, and performing at the Rejang Esplanade.
