KUCHING: The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has set aside RM3 million under the Digital Content Fund (DKD) for content creators in Sarawak and Sabah.

Its Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that by channelling the funds through the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), the ministry hopes to nurture local talent, promote innovative activities, and generate job opportunities.

In addition to this fund, content creators in Sarawak and Sabah will receive a 20 per cent discount when renting Sound System Studio facilities and equipment.

This offer is valid for six months, starting from today, Sept 15.

“We aim to support content creators in delivering top-notch productions. Through this fund, creators can receive up to RM100,000 for a single project,” Fahmi shared.

He added that applications for this funding are open from Sept 11 to Oct 11, exclusively for creators in Sarawak and Sabah.

“I urge all local creators to seize this wonderful chance,” he said. For more details, interested parties can visit the FINAS website.

He also said a special incentive: content creators who achieve international accolades will receive additional discounts on top of the existing 20 per cent.

“My hope is that with the support of the DKD fund and these discounts, we’ll see even more outstanding content from our talented creators,” he added.
