LIMBANG: People in the rural areas are urged to continue to improve their ICT skills in line with current development in technology.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Blaun said developments and changes in the use of ICT technology are growing rapidly and the rural people should not be left behind.

“They can obtain the latest information on development through the use of ICT,” he said at a Sehati Sejiwa (One Heart One Mind) programme at Rumah Assan Ngang, Kampung Semena, Medamit here, yesterday.

He added that the rural community needed to understand the benefits of using ICT. Among the benefits are saving costs and energy, without them having to go to the towns to ‘download’ information.

The programme organised by the Prime Minister’s Department was in collaboration with the Public Service Commission, Education Service Commission and Modern Administrative and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) which aims to foster interaction and ties between government departments and agencies and the people.

At the ceremony, Entulu also announced a government grant of RM30,000 to Rumah Assan.

Also present were chairman of Public Service Commission (SPA), Tan Sri Arpah Abdul Razak, heads of government departments, Tuai Rumah Assan Ngang and other local community leaders.
